Under Visvesvaraya PhD scheme, Phase-II

Academic Year: 2025 - 26

Applications in prescribed format are invited from eligible candidates for admission to PhD program on Full Time basis for the Autumn Semester 2025 in the following department of the University under the ‘Visvesvaraya PhD scheme, Phase-II’ supported by MeitY, Govt. of India:

Computer Science and Information Technology	Essential: M.E./M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering/ IT/ Electronics or MCA/M.Sc. in Computer Science/ IT with 55% and above marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA.  A relaxation of 5% in marks will be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PWD (having more than 40% disability) and other such categories as specified in case of admission in an institution under Government of Assam.  Desirable: GATE / NET Qualified	02 (UR)	Wireless Networks, Optical Networks, Network Security, AI/ML

Major features of the scheme for the full-time scholars are given below:

Fellowship: Rs. 38,750/- per month in 1st and 2nd year and @Rs.43,750 per month in 3rd, 4th and 5thy ears of Ph.D. (support till PhD completion or 5 years whichever is earlier).

Reimbursement of Rent (RoR): This component is linked with the fellowship of Ph.D. Candidate. The rate of RoR is 24%, 16% & 8% (of fellowship) for X, Y & Z class cities/towns respectively. The classification of the cities is as per the notification issued by the Ministry of Finance for the reimbursement of HRA.

Research Contingency Grant Support: An amount of Rs.1,20,000/- Per Year/Full-time Ph.D. candidate for support duration of Ph.D. candidate as per the terms and conditions of the ‘Visvesvaraya Ph.D. scheme, Phase- II’ supported by MeitY, Govt. of India.

Support for attending international conferences: Support up to Rs. 1.5 lakhs/Full-time Ph.D. candidate as per the terms and conditions of the ‘Visvesvaraya Ph.D. scheme, Phase- II’ supported by MeitY, Govt. of India.

Visit to Labs abroad: One-time support up to Rs. 10.5 Lakhs/candidate for a 6 month visit to labs abroadas per the terms and conditions of the ‘Visvesvaraya Ph.D. scheme, Phase-II’ supported by MeitY, Govt. of India.

Interested candidates may Apply Online through the  Cotton University GForm link provided below and by paying the application fee (non-refundable) through payment link provided (UPI/Debit Card / Credit Card/ Net banking only) at the time of filling of application form.

Application Fees: INR 1,200.00 (Rupees one thousand two hundred only)

Selection procedure: Selection will be made on the basis of overall academics and personal interview performance. The names of the candidates short listed for personal interview will be uploaded on the Cotton University website.
